Brittan E. Schwartz

Se habla español | Fluent in Spanish

Brittan went into immigration law because she believes a just world means everyone has the same rights and dignities, regardless of where they were born. She began working in immigration law in 2007 as a legal assistant right out of college. She graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2012 and has practiced immigration law exclusively ever since. Brittan gained valuable experience working for a nonprofit organization and then two private law firms in the Seattle area during the first five years of her career.

Brittan grew up in The Dalles, Oregon, a small town with a large Spanish speaking population. From an early age, she was interested in learning to speak Spanish and studied it with ferocity throughout high school and college including studying abroad in Guatemala and Spain. Upon entering the immigration legal world in 2007, Brittan mastered her Spanish fluency through interacting with Spanish-speaking clients on a daily basis.

In 2017, she opened her own law firm in South Seattle. She worked as a solo practitioner for 2 years before she and Mary Beth joined forces to open Schwartz & Sheehan, LLP in September of 2019. Brittan represents individuals in removal proceedings, affirmative applications, and humanitarian visas.

When she is not working, you can find her doing something outdoors with her husband, daughter, and beloved dog.

Mary Beth Sheehan

Se habla español | Fluent in Spanish

Mary Beth has practiced immigration law exclusively in her 10-year career. She graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 2010. During law school, she served as staff member (2008-09) and Editor in Chief (2009-10) of the Seattle Journal for Social Justice.  She also received the CALI Excellence for the Future award in Advanced Immigration Law, 2010. As an attorney she worked for a non-profit organization representing detained immigrant youth, and then as an associate immigration attorney before launching her immigration law office with Brittan.

Prior to pursuing law, Mary Beth’s passion for social justice and international development led her to Santa Cruz, Bolivia where she served with Mennonite Central Committee for three years in a program for working children. Upon returning to Washington State, she worked for three years with the City of Auburn, strengthening the city’s network of social services and educational programs for the city’s burgeoning immigrant communities. To date she continues to give back to the community through volunteering her time with legal clinics and presentations on immigrant rights, as a board member of the Green River College Foundation, and in various roles at Messiah Lutheran Church.

Mary Beth’s practice focuses on removal defense, U and T visas, VAWA claims, family-based petitions, DACA, and naturalization. She has a strong passion for asylum law, representing individuals and families from Mexico and Central America fleeing violence in their home countries.
